Our Team

Martin van der Saag

Martin is absolutely passionate about giving his clients great service and developing his team. He enjoys a lot of contact with North Advisory clients across the board from individuals to corporations.

Martin graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney 1981. He is a Chartered Accountant and has been with North Advisory since 1982 as employee and as the business owner since 1989.

Martin's week starts with a team meeting each Monday morning to discuss how the latest tax legislation news will impact North Advisory clients. The learning and development process continues as Martin reviews individual cases with team members, resolving issues and mentoring their development. He then works with his own client base enjoying face to face consultations and giving advice and information.

In Martin's words:

"Even though I've been here a few years now I still very much enjoy client contact and helping new and existing clients to increase their productivity and become more profitable. I am still enthused about tax and finding the very best ways to help businesses and individuals through the complex processes. I constantly look for new opportunities that will benefit our clients, for example we are currently focusing on software solutions for our clients which help increase efficiency.

I understand that my team love connecting with and helping our clients so I encourage my employees to take ownership of cases and take great pride in seeing the team doing a great job. I still sign off on every Tax Return. Every job crosses my desk and I take overall responsibility for it."

Judy She

Judy is responsible for providing financial statements and income tax, BAS and SMSF returns for many of our small business and corporate clients. She supervises other team members at North Advisory and helps to organise tax training. She's always on look out for training opportunities for the whole team.

In Judy's words

"North Advisory has a large variety of clients from many different industries which keeps my work exciting. I have a large amount of responsibility here and enjoy working directly with our clients. I am always looking for ways to solve our clients' problems. So for example if the best way to help someone is to teach them to do their BAS through their Xero accounting system then that's what I do!

This is a friendly place to work. Everyone talks to each other and there are no closed doors. We have a great and supportive culture where we all help each other. Also the standards are high - we all take pride in our work. Most of our business comes from referral - I guess happy clients tell other people about our services!"

Judy She is has been a Chartered Accountant since 2010. She graduated from Macquarie University in 2005 and worked for another local accountant before joining North Advisory in 2011. Judy plays piano for fun and enjoys outdoor Northern Beaches lifestyle.

Marius Fourie

At North Advisory Marius is heavily involved in face to face accounting and building client relationships. His absolute passion is setting up end to end business accounting structures for our clients. Marius is very technically proficient and can quickly design an end to end complete accounting and business system tailored to a client's individual needs.

In Marius' words

"What I love most about my role is putting systems in place that make accounting and bookkeeping seamless and automatic. This means our clients can spend less time on their books and more time on their businesses. And it also means that we spend less time preparing reports and returns and more time being proactive and giving strategic advice.

I love it when clients realise it's not as complicated as they thought it was and see a new way of doing things. Then once we can focus on advice all of a sudden the whole outlook of a business can change for the better and that's incredibly rewarding."

Marius Fourie joined North Advisory in 2012 after studying accounting and commerce in South Africa then working in Business accounting and firms in South Africa and Sydney.  A self-professed tech head, Marius relaxes by playing music and enjoys family life.

Kim Edwards

Kim has always been absolutely fascinated by figures and accounts - in fact it would be hard to imagine someone with more enthusiasm for the subject!

In Kim's words

"Accounting and tax have always fascinated me. I love to keep track of exactly what's happening with a business so our clients get exactly the information they need. There are enough technical challenges to keep me learning every day and the broad range of clients at North Advisory offers me incredible opportunity. Everyone is very friendly here - I just light up when I start work!"

Kim works mainly in company tax and SMSFs doing financial reports and making sure everything complies with the relevant legislation. He regularly corresponds with with the ATO and ASIC on behalf of our clients. He also has excellent research skills and will often look scour the literature on complex tax issues for senior team members.

Kim joined us in 2012 after completing his accounting and finance double degree at Macquarie University. He is currently working towards his chartered accountancy qualification and actively pursues every opportunity to learn and expand his knowledge.

Cayle Petritsch

Cayle Petritsch is our dedicated SMSF specialist. Cayle is a chartered accountant who has worked solely in Super since 2005. He is SPAA qualified and passionate about ensuring you get the maximum possible benefit from your SMSF fund. He works closely with the rest of the North Advisory team to offer seamless and efficient management of your financial affairs.

In Cayle's words:

"My passion is helping people. Super is most people's second biggest asset after their home so it's really important to get the fund management right. There is a massive amount of legislation around SMSF that's taken me years to learn... and I'm still learning… and that constant challenge fires me up every day to learn more and help more.

At North Advisory I love building long term relationships with our clients and taking all the headaches out of managing their SMSF. It's great to be part of an experienced team offering complete financial management solutions so you can get on with enjoying your money."

Norman Ruan

Norman was drawn to study economics as it was something he really enjoyed and excelled at during school. His goal is to progress to working on income tax returns helping businesses and individuals through the process efficiently and painlessly.

In Norman's words

"I really enjoy working at North Advisory because the staff are a fantastic bunch and the company looks after its clients delivering a high standard of work."

Ros Martin

Ros is the smiling face you'll see in reception and the friendly voice you'll hear on the phone. She's been with North Advisory since 1989.

Ros is very skilled at directing your phone call to the right person. She can often solve simple problems herself, but if the matter is more complex she knows who to put you through to.

In Ros' words

"For me it's about the little things that become the big things. I try to help our clients in every way I can and aim to deliver above their expectation. So if I know a client prefers printed documents rather than an email, I'll send a letter. Or if I can help a family with an ASIC issue at a difficult time I will.

I know that every day I make things a little smoother for our clients and the team and that makes me happy."
